Quebec Open and Ontario Open Tournament

Tora Judo club attended two major tournaments in November with over 1,000 competitors in Quebec and 700 in Ontario, both tournaments attract the best judoka from across the country as well as some international attendees.

At the Quebec Open held in Montreal Deanna Barnes fought in the U18 -63kg category, taking the bronze medal, she also competed in the Senior female -63kg division.

James Lonsdale fought in the U18 -73kg making it to the bronze medal match. Trenton Achico placed 15th out of 20, with a 1 and 2 record.

Ryan Conklin-Bric placed third in his U21-55kg division, Ryan also fought in the Senior -60kg category.

At the Ontario Open the club had seven competitors with great results. Deanna Barnes placed 7th out of 15 in both of her U18 and Senior -63kg. Ryan Conklin-Bric placed 3rd in the U21 -60kg division, he also fought in the Senior division.

Trenton Achico placed 5th out of 9 in his U14 -42kg division.

Matthew Coculuzzi competed in the U18 -66kg division, and Alexandra Flores placed 1st in her U14 -36kg division.

Sensei Mark Wilson placed 2nd in the +100kg Veterans division however was unsuccessful in the ne-waza competition. Eli Seunarine also competed in the Senior -66kg and Senior ne-waza category.
